The nights are drawing in, the crowds of August have gone, and we settle into September. September is one of our favourite months, as the weather is often good and it is a lot quieter. There’s still plenty to do – take a look at our top ten for this month!
1. Newquay Beer Festival 2019, Hendra Holiday Park, 21st – 23rd of September
Newquay Beer Festival is a popular local festival held right here at Hendra Holiday Park. The festival is held away from the caravans and entertainment in The Venue will still run. The beer festival is a ticketed event and there are lots of beers to try, from Cornish ale to beers around the world, along with music. Families are welcome, though parts of the festival are for over 18s only. Read more about it here.
2. Newquay Fish Festival, Newquay Harbour, 13th – 15th of September
One of the most anticipated events on the local calendar, this a time when locals and tourist come together to the gem that is Newquay Harbour to celebrate all things fishy! There’s live food demos, drinks, food, stalls and live music.
3. Newquay Sessions Family Finale, Killacourt, 14th of September
Enjoy live music and family fun at the Killacourt, and take in one of Newquay’s best views across Towan Beach and the Harbour.
4. World Bellyboarding Championships 2019, Perranporth Beach, 8th of September
Early September is your last chance to saviour the last dregs of summer. A simple competition that takes it back to basics: no wetsuits, no leashes and no swim fins, just a bit of wood and a swimsuit. Organised by the National Trust, this event celebrates riding traditional wooden boards. Many competitors arrive in fancy dress – so enjoy watching this entertaining competition! The event is largely run by volunteers and raises money for the RNLI.
5. Oktoberfest Newquay, 27th – 29th of September
Oktoberfest is coming to Newquay! This ticketed event promises live music, bratwursts and plenty of beer – what’s not to love?!
The event will run over two sessions:
Saturday – 14:00 – 21:00
Sunday – 14:00 – 21:00
The ticket includes entry to the event and traditional German live music
6. Hell’s Circus Newquay, near Morrisons, 1st of September
Your last chance to catch this great fun adults only circus performance. Prepare to be scared!
7. Kneehigh Asylum Weekender, 20th – 22nd of September
Cornish theatre company, Kneehigh, holds a festival weekend celebrating theatre, music, comedy and dance from our friends and collaborators including The Bowie Lounge, Anna Maria Murphy and Seamus Carey.
8. St Ives September Festival, 14th – 28th of September
This annual event is at various locations is St Ives over 15 days, with over 300 events. Enjoy music and arts around St Ives, one of Cornwall’s most sparkly jewels in its crown.
9. Grandparent’s Weekend at Lappa Valley Steam Railway, 28th – 29th of September
Take your Grandparents out for the day at the Lappa Valley Steam Railway. Kids will love going on the steam train to the park, through beautiful Cornish woodland to the historic valley, with mining history, play parks, indoor play, boating lake, crazy golf, more train rides, trampolines and a café – it is a fabulous day out for everyone.
10. Truro Food Festival, 27th – 29th of September
Cornwall is firmly on the foodie map, with brilliant local produce galore and fantastic restaurants if you love food then Cornwall is the place for you.
This festival is sure to make mouths water, with food and drink stalls around Lemon Quay and demonstrations by local chefs.
